about

Pretty lofty, self-explanatory track about feeling overwhelmed and confused, and looking to the sights and sounds of downtown to help gather my thoughts and connect things.

lyrics

Not even a thought that I could put into words
Without it coming out completely absurd
I wanna tear down the walls and build up a brand new good outlook,
But I don't even know where to start...

Today I'll go for a walk and look at the world all around me
And look at the people and all the buildings surrounding
I'll feel the city breeze flow from exhaust pipes
Maybe then I'll know where to start...

A pebble in space, a pebble on Earth, a pebble is not much
But the love in your heart can be seen in your art and become such
A similar saying sounds exactly like sayings you'd say to me when
Something you'd say had been saying Nathaniel I think I know where you should start...
I know where you should start.

A city is something you make in your mind to hold the things you need
Like fear and numbers and things you say and remembering recipes
So building a place in your mind that's safe can keep you safe from things
Like being afraid of the dark or not being smart or not knowing where to start

And the world is a place made up of cities of buildings of hope and dreams of
People like me who seem to think that they know everything
When the meaning of life is not a thing you can communicate,
You have to figure it out for yourself to figure out where you should start

As I loop around behind the buildings to see the vines climb,
I think to myself, "You know, they're not so different from power lines,
And power lines are like the nerve cells that make up the brain
That process data like love and colour and fear and falling rain
That send a message down your spine to make your legs move,
and hands paint, and wings fly at night around our room."
So when I get worried, I wonder, so willing to learn where I should start,
I think to myself to paint a picture of a world grown from the heart.
